Disney unveiled Inside Out 2, a follow-up to the 2015 emotional Pixar picture, during D23 Expo in 2022. Riley, the little girl from the previous movie, will once more be the focus of the sequel, which is scheduled for release in the summer of 2024.
She will be a teenager this time, and we will be going through all the feelings that come with being a teen.
Joy will once again be played by Amy Poehler, but it appears that she will be accompanied by a few fresh emotions.
Riley as a teenager will mean a new set of personified emotions, whereas the original movie focused on Riley as her family moves to San Francisco and included Bill Hader as Fear, Lewis Black as Anger, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, and Phyllis Smith as Sadness.
Kelsey Mann will be in charge of directing Inside Out 2. Mann is taking over from Pete Doctor, and this will be her debut feature picture, so she has some big shoes to fill. The screenwriter will be Meg LeFauve again.
In 2024, Inside Out 2 is slated for release. It was not made clear whether this will have an exclusive theatrical release or whether it would be available on Disney+.
