Star Wars: Darth Vader blew a Force-pull and a mission.

Spoilers ahead for Marvel Comics' Star Wars: Darth Vader #25.

In Star Wars: Darth Vader, the Sith warlord works with Padmé's former handmaiden, Sabé. He's trying to discover what happened to his wife, but Anakin Skywalker is resurfacing. The plot has teased why the former Jedi might fight the Dark Side in the future. During this chapter of his life, he's continuing cleansing his soul of the Light and fighting the rebels and Crimson Dawn.

Vader went to Gabredor III to arrest Tauntaza, a corrupt Imperial governor working with Qi'ra to disrupt the Empire. He formed an agreement with Sabé and pledged to help her enslaved people. Vader messed up an iconic action from the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV programme in Star Wars: Darth Vader #25 (by Grek Pak, Raffaele Ienco, VC's Joe Caramagna, and Carlos Lopez).

As Vader chased, the governor and her traitors boarded a twin-ion spacecraft, joking that he couldn't fly or catch them. He used the Force to stop the ship as they took off. It was a continuation of his famed Force choke from Episode 5 of Obi-Wan Kenobi. In the TV series, the ship Vader smashed was a decoy, allowing Obi-Wan and Leia to escape on another transporter.

In this comic set years later, Vader was furious because he botched the pull. Tauntaza pushed her men to keep pushing despite Vader's damage. They escaped and sped away. Vader scrambled to find Palpatine and save Sabé from a sandstorm.

It's an intriguing take on a move seen in The Force Unleashed when Starkiller brought down a Star Destroyer and in The Rise of Skywalker when Rey and Kylo Ren fought over Chewbacca's transport. Even though Vader wrecked the wrong ship in Obi-Wan Kenobi, it felt perfect and extended how recent views on the character show him as more competent with Force telekinesis.

The Path's spacecraft was on autopilot, so Vader couldn't push the engines. This vessel seems easier to knock down than Tauntaza's mini-cruiser, which fled with humans opposing Vader. Tauntaza knew Vader would go all out to make up for the Emperor's loss, therefore she knew he wasn't to be underestimated.
